How to Fix a HP 6720S screen hinges?Laptop hinges secure the laptop screen to the base of the laptop. They allow the laptop to open and close to conceal the screen and keyboard. Using a laptop over time can cause wear and tear. The laptop monitor is constantly being opened and closed, which can cause the HP 6720S screen hinges to become loose. If both hinges become loose, the monitor will not stay open. Instead of having to prop it up against something, the laptop can be repaired by replacing the hinges.
1. Turn the laptop over so the bottom is facing up. Remove the screws of the base using the screwdriver. Unscrew the screws attaching the HP 6720S lcd hinge on the back of the computer.
2. Gently pry the end of your keyboard bezel using a flat head screwdriver. Detach both hinge covers using your fingers. Lift the keyboard and pull the keyboard cable from the motherboard to remove the keyboard. Unscrew the screws attached to the video cable by tugging on the yellow belt from the motherboard
3. Unscrew the screws on the monitor bezel. Detach the rubber screw seals using a flat-head screwdriver. Unscrew the screws attached under the seals. Remove the screws attached to the monitor of the display HP 6720S lcd hinges.
4. Remove the old HP 6720S Hinge, by sliding them out. Insert the new hinges in place of the old ones. Place the hinges in the correct place -- the right hinge and the left hinge. Attach the screws back in place. Replace the bezel on the screen and secure with the screws. Attach the cables to the LCD and motherboard.
